Full service movers will pick up your things from inside your old home and deliver them inside your new home, but their services can be expensive.

Start looking for a reputable self service moving company well before moving day. Obtain moving quotes in writing from at least three self service moving companies. Make sure that they are licensed and insured and call up references to check their past performance.

It pays to look for a professional moving company rather than to choose a service provider only on the basis of the lowest bid. If you get a moving quote that is a lot lower than the rest, check to see if there are any hidden charges involved.
